I grew up in Philadelphia and went to high school in Boston, MA. After high school I came to Israel to study in Seminary for the year. I extended my visit for another year to do two years of serious Jewish studies. I then made aliyah and studied my B.ed here, with a double degree in special ed and in music. I focussed on voice, guitar and piano and performed a voice recital at the end of my fourth year. During this time I continued with volunteering and working in different programs with special needs and combining music. I continued afterwards to learn my MA at Bar Ilan in music therapy. During this time I got married and in later years I have been blessed with children.

I believe in integrating music and therapy in every part of my life, as well as integrating lessons I have learned from life in my therapy. Music has always been a part of my life and an integral part of my self- expression. I began writing songs in high school and recording music. I recorded my first cd with all original music  called movements and life ( www.jewish-ema-music.com ).

I am incredibly passionate about therapy and love working as a therapist. I bring my warm, creative, fun, professional and open personality into the therapeutic process. I believe in the power of growth and change, not just for my clients but for myself as well. In general in life, and in my field I am constantly looking to improve, learn more and grow, through continued classes and supervision. I am so blessed to work in something I love and believe in, and I bring this energy into the room.

Throughout the years I have continued to learn and develop in the field. My focus for the past ten years has been children and teenagers. I have gotten certification and expanded my studies in trauma therapy, anxiety, and people on the autistic spectrum. I work with many children and teens on issues of self- esteem, difficulty making friends, emotional regulation and behavioral issues.

“In music as in life, we choose what we listen to”. We are not in control of many things in our lives but one thing we are in control of: our reaction. We are in control of our attitude. I heard someone say “our attitude determines our altitude”. Just like any skill, this takes much work and practice. The more we understand ourselves on a very deep level, the better we are able to control ourselves.
